The bathroom I dreamed about...

As I designer, I have designed other bathrooms in the past. When I purchased my first home, the bathrooms were recently renovated back then; pretty straight forward with basic materials and low profile plumbing fixtures. But as part of life, everything started to deteriorate, malfunctioning, and breaking down throughout the years. Recently, it got to the point where I knew it was time for a new bathroom renovation.

And, just like that. One day, I envisioned a new idea for the bathroom in my house; and I went ahead and did it. My bathroom is not so big, it's approximately 6"x 7". So, as you can see, not a lot of space to move things around or add extra stuff.

But, before continuing; let's talk about my previous bathroom. What this outdated bathroom looked like? Well, let me tell you! It consisted of vinyl flooring, a white laminated cabinet, a solid surface vanity countertop, low profile plumbing, rusty lighting fixtures, lack of storage, tired of changing my shower curtain every so often, and tired of cleaning the mold in a tub that was not being use. Lastly, I didn't like the idea of using a corner or hanging shower organizers. They fall all the time.

First of all, and rule number one. I knew, it needed to be functional and meet all my needs.

What I wanted to accomplish in this new renovation?

I wanted a fresh, clean and contemporary look, a neutral color palette, modern furnishings, durable materials, and more storage. In addition, I no longer wanted a tub, and I needed a solution to replace the shower curtain system.

My new bathroom renovation brought me so much joy and pleasure. I love deigning bathrooms, and knew this had to be a special one.

So, I incorporated a mix of materials, using neutral colors, reflecting wooden, stone and metal finishes. I removed the existing tub, and designed a spacious shower area with a large niche, where I could fit all my shower essentials. I used a modern- wooden wall mounted vanity with large drawers to provide storage space. The matte-black fixtures gave it a contemporary look when incorporated with the rest of the materials in this bathroom. And lastly, I added a frame- fixed shower glass screen to the shower area. This shower glass screen solved my curtain problem giving it the special touch to entire bathroom.

This is not the bathroom of my dreams, but the bathroom I dreamed for this house that I would be happy with while living in this house....
